Background

Varush studied Business Management at Brunel University in London. After graduation he considered his next steps, and thanks to the positive reputation of NHBC as an employer, decided the Business Graduate Programme would be an excellent opportunity.

Joining NHBC’s Business Graduate Programme

As part of the application process graduates are invited to attend an assessment centre and take part in a team task. Following a successful application Varush joined the programme in September 2024.

What do you enjoy most about your current position?

As part of the programme graduates get to experience working in four different areas of the organisation: Standards, Innovation and Research, Underwriting, Commercial Services and Claims Operations. Varush is currently working in Claims Operations.

He said “I’ve enjoyed learning what the teams in each department do and how they work together. I’ve found this both interesting and insightful. During the programme we get to have rotations in different departments which give us the chance to really understand the whole organisation.”

How has NHBC supported you?

NHBC provides the tools and resources graduates need to learn and develop, including a mentor who supports them throughout the two-year programme.

Varush said “I’ve had a great experience from the start. The application process for the Business Graduate Programme was straightforward and I appreciated the clear communication throughout. Why did you want to work at NHBC?

Varush answered “There were some clear areas of my own development I felt I’d be able to work on at NHBC including strategic thinking, financial acumen, communication and problem-solving skills. These skills are important as developing them will help me but also enable me to contribute to the organisation’s success in the future.”
