We are the UK’s leading provider of warranty and insurance for new homes, with over 1.4 million homes currently under cover. We understand the needs and demands of the Build to Rent sector, recognising the long-term nature of retaining assets. And, as a direct insurer, we underwrite our own policies, with a dedicated underwriting team on hand to discuss your bespoke requirements, working with you to provide the cover you need, when you need it. Therefore we are a partner in identifying and mitigating design and construction risk from the outset of a development working to ensure a design life of at least sixty years and providing warranty and insurance.

From day one, our advice and support aims to mitigate specific, tangible risks to your projects, whilst maximising the quality of construction and safeguarding your investors’ long-term assets.

Via early engagement in design reviews, our technical specialists will become a key part of your design and development team detecting any risk of defects. They provide expertise and advice to help design out and prevent risks such as structural defects or fire safety issues. We work to ensure a design life for buildings of at least 60 years.

Our in-house technical experts will provide your project team with dedicated support, managing the project during different construction milestones.
We have our own inspectors, surveyors and construction quality specialists who support your contractors to meet the standards required. For large and complex developments, particularly high rise, we have our specialist Major Projects Team and fire-safety experts, many of whom have worked on some of the most iconic developments of recent times.
Over one million annual inspections and years of claims data provides a unique depth and breadth of construction quality insight.

We provide rigorous on-site inspections, checking for, advising on and working with the contractor on quality matters through key stages for each project:
- foundation excavation with inspections completed as foundation systems are created
- superstructure inspections with frequency of visits determined on a project basis
- first fix inspections completed when all first fix elements of plumbing and electrical work has been completed, prior to cladding of walls and ceilings
- pre handover checks at the final stage prior to occupation.
We also complete intermediate inspections which assess completed build elements between key stages outlined above while frequency inspections will be carried out at least once a month by one of our building inspectors.

Our construction quality service will analyse, assess and report on the quality of construction being delivered on your site, benchmarking the scheme against other sites, allowing you to assess performance and consider any areas where improvement is necessary. This provides a league table of the best performing vs least performing sites with a focus on good practice and how to push construction quality as well as providing a barometer of contractor and site performance.

An NHBC Accepts logo shows that a system has been rigorously assessed and subject to correct design and installation, meets our robust Standards.
