Read moreShaun began his apprenticeship with Bellway Homes in January 2022, having been a professional footballer until last year with no prior experience in the house-building industry.
He says:
“'I appreciate all the different aspects that go into the role I am doing and will be embracing more responsibility as I gain experience. And prior experience is not always required - which was perfect for me making a complete career change.
“Any qualifications or certificates that I gain I am proud of as everything is completely new to me! And each module that I pass is all vital knowledge and a step closer to me becoming a site manager.
“The tutors are very good and make themselves accessible throughout the week which is great if you have any questions on the topics. NHBC is a leading organisation within the building industry so my qualifications will be highly thought of.
“I would say it’s an excellent industry to get into. There is high demand for construction throughout the country so I feel opportunities will always be there.”
I’ve enjoyed the course and I really liked the mix of one-to-one support and the chance to learn on your own.
It’s been great and the NHBC assessors very helpful. The online learning portal has been easy to use and is where we can upload examples of our work and complete tests and coursework.
I have enjoyed learning about the house-building processes. It’s filled so many gaps I had in my knowledge and it’s good to now be able to walk around the site being able to apply this new knowledge in reality.
I would recommend this course to anyone starting out in construction management to provide you with a strong foundation of which can be built upon.
