Read moreHarry started his apprenticeship with Bellway Homes in September 2021. He has six years’ experience in house building as a joiner (including time spent as an apprentice joiner) and currently works as an assistant site manager.
He says:
"I’m proud of my progression, I can clearly see where I started and where I can go with the experience that this programme has given me. The tutors are great, and I can’t thank them enough. They’re always on the end of the phone/email if you need any further assistance or just advice
“The NHBC online portal is a game changer! Having done an apprenticeship before without a portal, it’s so easy to use and you can see exactly what needs to be done.
“The foundation of knowledge that this apprenticeship has given me is going to massively benefit me. Everything has been made relatable to my role and also for any future roles. When I finish the apprenticeship, I plan to become a fully qualified assistant site manager, with hopes to become a site manager.
“I have fallen in love with the industry and can’t see myself ever wanting to leave. There are so many roles and routes in the industry that accommodate everyone. Another great but obvious one is that it’s a well-paying sector.”
I’ve enjoyed the course and I really liked the mix of one-to-one support and the chance to learn on your own.
It’s been great and the NHBC assessors very helpful. The online learning portal has been easy to use and is where we can upload examples of our work and complete tests and coursework.
I have enjoyed learning about the house-building processes. It’s filled so many gaps I had in my knowledge and it’s good to now be able to walk around the site being able to apply this new knowledge in reality.
I would recommend this course to anyone starting out in construction management to provide you with a strong foundation of which can be built upon.
