Overview
This £4.2 million scheme involved the design and construction of ten classrooms, associated offices, social centre, café and extended art teaching facilities including a new double height gallery.
Set within the heart of the campus, the project also had the complexity of linking existing listed college buildings to the new structures. Particular attention had to be paid to ensure level access was achieved between the new and old structures to comply with Part M of the Building Regulations whilst keeping within the fluid design of the overall project.
"Without question we have enjoyed an excellent service from NHBC Commercial Building Control at Radley and would very much like to continue the relationship between us."

Added value
NHBC Building Control was heavily involved with the design team from the first concept. This included negotiations with the local fire authority to approve the fire-engineered solution which lead to full fire brigade approval being obtained.
Proactive communications from NHBC meant that all parties and stakeholders in the project were updated regularly with site and design variations caused by the tight site constraints and other unforeseen issues. Several site meetings were set up to ensure the entire design and building's evolution move forward seamlessly.
This approach led to a successful conclusion of the project which was completed on time and on budget.
