A construction NVQ is a benchmark qualification that proves your occupational competence to current and future employers. NVQs also benefit employers by helping them to develop and retain a trained, skilled workforce. Some NVQs lead to membership of professional organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) as well as Gold or Black CSCS cards.
Fully funded future skills training from CITB
For a limited period from January to March 2025, CITB is offering 100% funding towards certain training including leadership & management, digital skills and net zero & green skills.
Sign up for one of our NVQs before March 2025 and CITB could potentially pay 100% of the costs – completed application forms required by the end of February 2025 to qualify.

Need a CSCS card?
You need a recognised qualification. Act now.
All Industry Accreditation (IA) CSCS cards issued from 1 January 2020 expire on 31 December 2024 and can’t be renewed using IA.
Instead, from 1 January 2025, construction workers need a nationally recognised qualification or professional body membership in order to get a new card. This change affects around 60,000 people including site managers and assistant site managers.
All NHBC NVQs count as a relevant qualification and CITB is providing extra funding to support those needing to complete a qualification. Qualifications take around 12 months to complete so there’s no time to lose. Sign up for your qualification today, and you'll be able to apply for a temporary CSCS card to keep you on site while you complete your course.

CITB grant funding
From 1 April 2023, CITB is doubling grant rates for specific supervision NVQ Diplomas.
If you’re a CITB Registered employer and up to date with your Levy Returns you may be entitled to claim CITB short duration grant funding for our NVQ diplomas. The funding is for all directly employed staff on the payroll, business owners and partners, and all subcontractors.
ELCAS funded NVQs
The Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELCAS) promotes learning amongst members of the Armed Forces.
We're an approved training provider which means ELCAS funding is available to ex-members of the Armed Services who wish to study for one of our NVQs at Level 3 and above. You can claim the funding in three separate financial years, with the amount available dependent on length of military service.
