Qualification overview
Develop and prove you have the skills needed to be a knowledgeable, qualified construction site manager. This NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management will cover health and safety, site set up, pre-start procedures, environmental considerations, planning, resourcing, quality, customer satisfaction and handover.
Who the qualification is aimed at
This work-based qualification is aimed at learners working in site management roles and overseeing larger projects and sites with the authority, accountability and decision-making that comes with site management roles.
Qualification content
Learners must complete the mandatory units from groups A and D1 plus one optional unit from Group D2.

- Organising, controlling and monitoring supplies of materials in the workplace
- Establishing and monitoring communication systems and organisational procedures in the Workplace
- Establishing project dimensional control criteria in the workplace 1
- Controlling project quantities and costs in the workplace
- Evaluating feedback information and recommending improvements in the workplace
- Planning highways maintenance or repair activities in the workplace
- Providing and monitoring construction-related customer service in the workplace
- Managing the handover of the construction project in the workplace
- Planning and scheduling the maintenance or remedial activities of property, systems or services in the workplace

Learners must choose one of the following:
- Contributing to the identification of work teams in the workplace
- Identifying, allocating and planning the deployment and use of plant, equipment or machinery in the workplace
- Controlling project quantities and costs in the workplace
How long does it take?
Most NVQs take 9-12 months to complete, but it is not uncommon for learners to finish earlier. If it takes more than a year, then there may be a charge for each extra month.
Costs and grants
This NVQ Level 6 costs £2,980 +VAT if completed within 12 months.

Where does it lead?
On completion of this NVQ, you could consider taking a higher qualification such as the Level 6 NVQ in Construction Contracting Operations Management and the Level 7 NVQ in Construction Senior Management. Your assessor will be delighted to discuss these and any other options with you.
What level is it?
An NVQ Level 6 is equivalent to a Bachelors degree.
