Apprenticeship overview

Our Bricklaying Level 3 apprenticeships are delivered through our unique site-like training hubs and are an invaluable opportunity for individuals with a keen interest in the art of bricklaying to hone their craftsmanship and technical skills.

The NHBC Level 3 Bricklaying apprenticeship is for anyone who has already achieved a Level 2 and is interested in developing their skills further or moving into a senior position that requires specific technical and professional skills.

The programme spans fourteen learning blocks spread over thirteen months at which point you then enter end point assessment (EPA).

What you will learn

The hubs resembles a site compound with a large central slab for all practical work providing comparable site working conditions. With each day running from 8:00 to 16:30 the programme spans fourteen learning blocks spread over thirteen months at which point you then enter end point assessment (EPA). The training builds on our Level 2 apprentice programme and introduces more complex bricklaying activities including:

  • decorative panels, arches, brick bonds, tumbling in, corbels and angled brickwork
  • health & safety legislation and incident management
  • Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)
  • environmental management
  • defect management
  • stock rotation
  • communication & documentation methods
  • planning & scheduling work along with time management
  • quality assurance and the NHBC standards.

Entry requirements

Entrants to the apprenticeship will hold maths and English qualifications equivalent to Functional Skills Level 2 (e.g. GCSE grade C-4), however consideration will be given to any applicant who can achieve diagnostic results at the required levels.

You must be:

  • 16 or over by the end of the school summer holidays
  • living in UK
