Video transcript
My name is Yvonne Patsanza, I’m a senior building inspector and I’m in the inspection team
I've been with NHBC seven and a half years. My career journey to date, I started off in customer services as a customer services
Representative, then I was accepted into the NHBC academy where I was a trainee building inspector and then I came out the other
end a role one building inspector. After that I went through the ranks of building inspector role 2 until where I am today senior building inspector.
The support from NHBC my career development has been a collection of individuals who at certain times have helped me.
For example when I was in customer services I was in a one-to-one with my team leader on the customer services team and she asked me where I wanted to be in five years and so I told her I wanted to be a building inspector and she pointed me in the right direction, advised which courses I should do and so when it came time for me to apply to the academy I knew that I had her support.
When I joined the academy it was all of them, the trainers right from the head of the academy down to the trainers everybody was so supportive.
What do I enjoy about my current role? I really enjoy the redevelopment projects that I’m part of especially when the redevelopment is for communities where they can't afford new houses but the redevelopment is mainly for them and it keeps the fabric of that community together.
I love the opportunity to do things outside of my day job, In the seven and a half years that I’ve been with NHBC there have been so many opportunities for me to either volunteer with an external organisation and I know that I’ve got support from my team
It's great waking up in the mornings and not just saying that oh I’m going to do my job today but I’m going to do my job plus something else.
