Tell us about your NHBC journey
My first role in the business was as a warehouse assistant, where I stayed for just over three years. During that time, I completed a BTEC course with the aim of becoming a building inspector (BI). Unfortunately, there weren’t any BI trainee positions available in the months following but a development role became available within the Risk and Compliance Team.
After a successful application process, I joined that team in June 2017. I have since completed a Chartered Insurance Institute qualification and I’m now a compliance analyst.
Why have you chosen to work and stay at NHBC?
I genuinely believe that NHBC makes a difference in the house-building industry and has made significant progress in addressing policyholder needs. I’ve never worked for a company with such a committed group of employees and strong sense of community.
Speaking from my own experience, the possibilities to progress my career in NHBC have been excellent, and the support and encouragement has always been amazing.
How do you feel about your current role and NHBC now?
Since moving from the Warehouse into the Compliance Team, I have had the opportunity to become much more involved in various business activities. I’ve seen several positive changes made for the benefit of our policyholders which I felt was an area that needed improvement.
How well supported do you feel?
I feel extremely well-supported. It was a huge learning curve when I changed departments, and everyone that I’ve worked with, either closely or just in passing, has been so helpful.
It’s perhaps a cliché to say, but the workforce at NHBC really is its greatest strength.
Is there anything you particularly love about your role that you’d like to share?
I like that we have stakeholders across the whole business and there is opportunity to get involved in a wide range of work.
