What does your day-to-day role entail?
Working for the Commercial Building Control team means that I work with a variety of retail, manufacturing and restaurant companies providing Building Control services. Our team also supports the core elements of the business and we oversee conversion projects for both Building Control and warranty provision as well as residential retirement developments.
What attracted you to NHBC?
Having worked in Building Control for 10 years both in the public and private sectors already, NHBC was an obvious choice for career progression for me. It offers both the variety and complexity of projects that I am motivated to work on. I also enjoy being part of a technically driven organisation that focusses on driving standards upwards.

Do you feel supported in your career development?
In my experience at NHBC, I have seen that there are continuous opportunities to progress and gain additional skills. I was very proud to be nominated and shortlisted this year for the Women In Construction Awards, a nomination that my colleagues put me forward for. I think this is a great example of how NHBC encourages and supports its employees in developing a rounded career.
What would you say to someone considering a technical career at NHBC?
If you would like to work for a company that has a large cross-section of roles and responsibilities, that offers a supportive working environment (whether you’re office or home-based) and provides opportunities for career variety and progression if you are willing and motivated then, NHBC is for you!
